Yuri B. Anderson is the artistic director of the “International Laboratory Ensemble” (ILE). She has worked as an actor/performer, director, musician, acting teacher, voice coach, assistant director and dramaturge in Cologne, Berlin, London and Bielefeld. In 2012 she joined the Theaterlabor Bielefeld.

As a core member of Theaterlabor Bielefeld she devised, directed/co-directed or performed in almost all of its national and international projects, including stage performances, street theatre productions and theatre installations in Germany, England, Scotland, Poland, Sweden, France, Serbia, Italy, Spain and Ukraine. As a project leader she was responsible for coordinating, directing and co-directing the international project “Crisis Trauma Hope” (2016-18). She co-directed the EU-funded international production “Last Days of Mankind” (2018-19).

One of the major influences of her training has been the work of Margaret Pikes, one of the founding members of the Roy Hart Theatre. Among the theatre practitioners she has trained with were: Bettina Dorn and Christoph Hilger (Germany), Nicole Nagel (Germany), Mike Pearson (Wales/UK), Joan Mills (Wales/UK), David Zinder (Israel), Phillip Zarrilli (USA), Stewart Lynch (Australia), Guillermo Gómez-Peña and Roberto Sifuentes, La Pocha Nostra (Mexico/USA), Ko Murobushi (Japan), Natalie Hennidge, Cake Theatre (Singapore), Adrian Jackson, Cardboard Citizens (UK), Philip Saville (UK),  Kate Hilder (UK), Neil Paris (UK).

Together with her colleague Alina Tinnefeld she founded the community theatre group UBU in 2014. Yuri B. Anderson is based in Cologne, Germany, and Zurich, Switzerland.
